Description

Illustration and watercolour artworks with the subject matter of Australian native fungi/mushrooms.

Species studied so far:

Mycena interrupta

This print features a Native Australian mushroom, Mycena interrupta.

Striking blue fungi that grows from dead timber, amongst the wet rainforests of Southern Australia and New Zealand. They are small in size, but hard to miss. They are also called Pixie's Parasols, due to their small size and umbrella like shape.

This piece shows curiosity of small things, peeking out in an almost shy manner, but standing up tall to see what's around. I think they also show how much something small can shine in this world.

Psilocybe subaeruginosa

A watercolour painting of the psychedelic mushroom Psilocybe subaeruginosa, commonly known as Gold Tops or just Subs.
Known to be one of the highest potency species in the world and native to Australasia and New Zealand. Psilocybin, the active compound in these and many other mushrooms of the same family, are being somewhat rediscovered and used in various ceremonies and treatments around the world.
Exploring how they can help with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other mental disorders.
What a beautiful thing to come out of a cute little mushroom that grows from dead, rotting and then recycled wood.

Printed on a gorgeous textured 300 gsm paper, this print will be striking in any location, but I think it would be a particularly spectacular addition to a bathroom.
