Rhys Delinac

Artist | Maker | Storyweaver

I'm Rhys Delinac, an artist based in Werribee on Wadawurrung Country in Victoria, Australia.

My path into art has not been entirely conventional. Alongside my creative practice, I have spent much of my career working as a Business Analyst, moving between structured systems, problem-solving and strategic thinking. Rather than existing in opposition, these worlds continually inform one another. The analytical side of my work helps me uncover patterns, connections and frameworks, while art allows me to explore the human stories that exist beneath them.

My practice centres around themes of identity, memory, transformation, belonging and self-reflection. I am particularly interested in the way objects accumulate meaning over time and how materials can carry stories, histories and emotional weight.

I work across a range of disciplines including sculpture, fineline illustration, watercolour, often incorporating reclaimed, repurposed & found materials. I am drawn to processes that honour craftsmanship, material history and the possibility of giving new life to overlooked things.

Beyond creating artworks, I enjoy sharing knowledge through workshops, community projects and collaborative creative experiences. Much of my work is guided by curiosity; a desire to learn traditional skills, explore unfamiliar processes and build worlds that encourage connection, reflection and discovery.

Growing up in a family that spent a lot of time in the bush, forests and beaches of Victoria, I often include Australian native fungi, flora and fauna, and the patterns seen in my works. It is important that the land I occupy is respected, understood and honoured, and hope my art will provoke the same respect from others. Reconnecting and playing with land, nature, and natural cycles is what I aim to inspire.

Whether creating a small hand-held object or a larger installation, my goal remains the same: to make work that feels authentic, invites engagement and leaves people with a sense of wonder, curiosity or recognition.

Delisnack Art is the home of my creative practice.

The name began as a little laugh; my surname is Delinac and the phrase "I'm a lil snack" kept cropping up. Delisnack was born somewhere between the two and has stuck around long enough to let it live.

Over time, Delisnack Art has grown into a space where stories, objects, materials and memories intersect to create works that explore personal mythology, belonging, transformation and the traces we leave behind.

While the work is deeply connected to my own experiences, Delisnack Art exists as something slightly separate from me. It gives ideas room to grow beyond autobiography and become shared experiences. It is a place for curiosity, experimentation and world-building; a framework that allows individual works, relics, stories and projects to connect into a larger whole.

At its heart, Delisnack Art is about making meaningful things that invite people to slow down, look closer and discover their own connections within them.
